| Religious Education NEWS… - First Eucharist meeting TODAY, 9 AM OR Sunday, March 7th, 9 AM, in the Pine Room. Mandatory —one parent/guardian must attend. Bishop Tom will facilitate. - Living Stations of the Cross practices will be TODAY and March 7th at 1 PM in Church. Living Stations presentations will be Fridays March 12, 19 and 26th at 7:30 PM and Good Friday April 2 at 12 PM, in church. Our RCIA Candidates attended the Rite of Election at the Cathedral Basilica on Sunday, Feb. 21st and the Call to Continuing Conversion on Sat., Feb. 20th. Please continue to pray for them. Our Catechumens will receive the Sacrament of Initiation at the Easter Vigil, Saturday, April 3 7:30 PM, and our candidates will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation (and Communion) on Sat., April 24th at the 5:30 PM Mass. Our 9th Grade Confirmation candidates will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday, April 25th at the 12 PM Mass. Please continue to pray for our candidates. Our Mardi Gras Pancake Breakfast was a great one! Thanks to all the families and friends who came out to celebrate our February Family Time event. Thanks to Debbie Lucas-McGady and Maureen Hoffman for the “yummy” pancakes and Carmela Ruberto for the “yummy” cupcakes. Thanks also to Rich Marchitto for all his help and to our Confirmation candidates who helped to set up, decorate, serve and clean up! Our Confirmation candidates Youth Night was a big hit as the candidates watched “We Are Marshall” - a movie about a football team who are killed in an airplane crash, and how the healing process helps recreate a new football team. We discussed how fragile life is and talked about the untimely death of one of our students’ dad. Thanks to Barbara and Keith Cole who provided the refreshments and to Maureen and Shannon Hoffman and Rich Marchitto for their help. |

| Rosary Society News… - The next meeting will be Tuesday, March 9th, 7 PM. - The Annual City Wide Communion Breakfast will be held Sunday, April 25th at St. Andrew’s Church, 10 AM Mass followed by breakfast at the Chandelier Restaurant. - St. Henry’s Rosary Society will sponsor a LENTEN RETREAT on March 13th to the Blue Army Shrine, Washington, NJ. The group will leave St. Henry’s at 8:30 AM, and arrive back at 5:15 PM. Cost of $50/person includes transportation, breakfast, lunch, 2 talks by Fr. | 2010 Lenten Regulations The days of both Fast and Abstinence during Lent are Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. The other Fridays of Lent are days of Abstinence. On a day of Fast, only one (1) full meal is permitted. Those between the ages of 18 & 59 are obliged to fast. On a day of Abstinence, no meat may be eaten. Those who have reached the age of 14 are obliged by the law of abstinence. The obligation to observe the laws of Fast and Abstinence “substantially”, or as a whole, is a serious obligation. The Fridays of the year, outside of Lent, are designated as days of penance, but each individual may substitute for the traditional abstinence from meat some other practice of voluntary self-denial as penance. The time for fulfilling the Paschal Precept (Easter Duty*) extends from the First Sunday of Lent, February 21, 2010 to the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity, May 30, 2010. * Canon 920, §1. All the faithful, after they have been initiated into the Most Holy Eucharist, are bound by the obligation of receiving Communion at least once a year.
